Lake Harvest is one of several expanding businesses owned by a private-equity investment company with a portfolio of investments in Africa that represent the highest standards of business practice and corporate responsibility.
We were invited to create their new website on a referral from the NHS. On first contact, the client admitted to knowing that they needed a solution but being unsure what it would be. Unfazed by this, we embarked on a thorough fact-finding process. This established that, as well as a general overview of the business, Lake Harvest wanted to showcase the harvesting of tilapia fish, strong branding through clear site messaging and the exposition of their core values, including their approach to corporate social responsibility.
Working around their existing identity, we established that a key objective for the new site was to emphasise Lake Harvest’s clean, professional image, as well as appealing to both investors and potential purchasers of their products.
As well as redesigning the look and feel of the website, our solution also featured a sophisticated fish recipe resource managed through our proprietary content management system (with a bespoke PDF engine). This resource, which is a prominent part of the new site, enables site visitors to interact with Lake Harvest by adding their own favourite recipes to the site for subsequent download by other visitors.
Other prominent features include a Q&A section, a dynamic contact form and location map, and Facebook and Twitter integration, all of which are powerful tools for Lake Harvest as they build their image as ‘the approachable face of big business’. And of course, the content management system behind the site gives complete control of all site content without requiring our involvement.
The PDF recipe area was challenging, as were the practicalities of liaising with the (very helpful) team based in Zimbabwe. Though adding to the work required, the bespoke PDF engine ultimately gives Lake Harvest a better solution than would have been achieved with an off-the-shelf solution.
The result is a site that has transformed the Lake Harvest web presence, provides numerous tools for future brand building and puts species such as the delicious tilapia on the world-wide map as sustainable alternatives to sea fish.
