Kitty, Distress to Impress
Distress to Impress is an online custom clothing shop run by Kitty, a self-styled “ambitious punk rock child” with an unstoppable entrepreneurial streak. The store sells a wide range of customised clothing, made by Distress to Impress and produced in limited numbers to ensure that they are very desirable garments.
The Distress to Impress range is ideally suited to online retailing. When a web presence was needed, we were tasked with creating a unique website that reflected the colourful styles and fun ethics of Distress to Impress. At the same time, the site had to be extremely easy for the client to control. As designers, not web developers, the Distress to Impress team needed a simple but effective way to manage the day-to-day running of the online store, including order-taking, adjusting stock levels, and adding new items.
Easy site management was achieved with the proprietary Cutpastecreate content management system (CMS). With all the simplicity of a familiar word processor, this allows the Distress to Impress crew to easily manage the daily flow of online orders, as well as updating product descriptions, images and stock levels.
In addition to the site’s e-commerce function, the CMS also makes it easy to keep a blog up-to-date. Taking control of their online image couldn’t be easier for Kitty’s team, who can quickly change any aspect of the site without having to work through us.
The site now enjoys an enviable daily hit-tally and runs smoothly with minimal user involvement – from efficient automatic order taking, through to end-of-day packaging and labelling.
