David Francis, Freelance Filmmaker

Description

David J. Francis is a freelance filmmaker, he has worked with many high profile clients, including Halfords, O2 and Gillette.  He needed a site to promote his freelance film work, and wanted the site to be a showcase of his existing clips, as well as a demonstration of his skills in all areas of the film-production process.  David wanted a clean well designed site that would complement the high quality nature of his clips, without distracting the user from the videos.

The site uses some cutting edge techniques to provide animated transitions when the user plays a video clip, this gives the user a visually stunning experience when viewing David’s work, and lends a professional feel to the video clips.  The site is backed by Cutpastecreate’s own content management system, making it extremely easy for David to update the sites pages and add regular news posts to help promote his films.  Cutpastecreate’s content management system also helps the site to gain a good position in search engine results by automatically adding descriptions and keywords for all the pages on the site.

Distress to Impress is an online custom clothing shop run by the self-pronounced “ambitious punk rock child” named Kitty.  The store sells a wide range of customised clothing, made by Distress to Impress and produced in very limited numbers, this makes them very desirable garments.  Cutpastecreate were tasked with the job of creating a unique website that reflected Distress to Impress’ colourful and fun ethics, while at the same time made it extremely easy for them to take full control of the day to day running of the website after it was completed, including taking orders, adjusting stock levels, and adding new items to the store.

The Distress to Impress website is built on top of Cutpastecreate’s own Content Management System, this system allows the Distress to Impress crew to easily manage the flow of orders that come through the site daily, as well as update product descriptions, images and stock levels.  In addition to the e-commerce aspect of the site, there is also a blog section that can also be easily updated from the same simple interface as the rest of the shop, this means that Distress to Impress can take control of their online image and are free to change any aspect of the site without having to go to Cutpastecreate.  This has ensured that the business runs very smoothly without too much user interaction, orders are taken automatically from customers, then at the end of the day orders are packaged and labeled ready for distribution.

Rosie Runciman, The Sound Archive

Description:

The Sound Archive is an independent production company formed in 2007 by two experienced BBC staff with very highly regarded and complementary skills. Its mission is to provide the highest quality material for broadcast and podcast and to pioneer the use of audio websites to make them the leading, most effective, dynamic and portable form of communicating information over the next ten years.

The client wanted a site that would communicate the companies modern technical aspect to visitors, while retaining a simple structure.  Cutpastecreate took the site concept and turned it into a reality, using modern techniques we produced a site that not only looks good, but also loads fast and feels like a modern website to navigate.  After completing the project The Sound Archive were able to take control of the site and can now independently manage their online presence, adding news articles and updating pages, all using Cutpastecreate’s own Paste Create Publishing System.

The Sound Doctor is a NHS funded podcasting website.  The site features a vast amount of audio information on various health conditions, and is intended to be used as a resource for those wishing to find out more about a certain condition without having to read lots of information. The client wanted the site to be easy to maintain and add new podcasts to, as well as be easy to navigate and interact with from the users perspective. As the site is targeted at all age groups it needed to have accessibility features, such as text size adjuster, for it to be usable by everyone.

Cutpastecreate saw the site through from concept to reality, providing advice and consultancy at every step.  The design has to meet the strict NHS branding guidelines, as well as appealing to a wide range of people, we worked closely with the NHS design team to create a design that was modern and unique, within the given design constraints.  The audio for the site was produced by The Sound Archive, we integrated the individual chapters of each episode into and easy to navigate web interface, then created a podcast which is listed in the iTunes store for users to easily subscribe.

With this change we thought it was about time that Cutpastecreate had a new look so we have redeveloped our web site. With this update comes an update to the portfolio of the sites we have been building in the last few months. Willison Construction came to Cutpastecreate looking for a website to allow potential clients and architects to view their vast portfolio of contemporary new builds and property restorations. Willison Construction has an excellent reputation for high quality builds, so their website needed to reflect this image without detracting from the visual imagery of the buildings.

Cutpastecreate provided Willison Construction with a bespoke design for the website. The site was build on Cutpastecreate’s in-house content management system, which provides a very fast and simple way for the client to manage their site from any web browser.

Safari is a free download for Windows and Mac users. It provides one of the fastest platforms available for browsing the web. Many internet users are still using the copy of Internet Explorer that came with their computer, this can lead to slow website loading times, incorrectly displayed websites and worst of all frustrated users.  The technology in Internet Explorer is nearly 5 years old, and in that time other browsers have advanced greatly in many areas, most noticeably in load times.

Modern sites make extensive use of javascript to enhance the appearance of pages, the more of these scripts that your browser has to run, the more work that it has to do.  As the web has advanced, so to have the browser technologies used to display the web. Description:

Safelight Images are a photography company based in Swansea, South Wales.  When they came to Cutpastecreate they were looking for an online presence for their company, as well as a distribution channel they could sell their photography through.

The site needed to provide an easy way for customers to come to the site and buy photographs of the events that Safelight attend.  It also had to serve as a professional portfolio for showcasing the other photography services that Safelight provide.  Cutpastecreate designed a website that gave Safelight Images a strong online presence from which they could expand their business.

The Cushion and Throw Company are a well established local business.  They came to Cutpastecreate looking to expand their business into the online market-place.  The client wanted to provide their customers with the easiest way to purchase from their site.  Cutpastecreate provided a custom E-Commerce and Content Management System for running the shop. We also integrated a payment gateway that enabled the client to take payments directly from the website, without taking customers away from the shop.

After the build the Cushion and Throw Company were able to take over management of the shop.  This allows them to add and edit products, confirm orders, and track sales, all from within a browser.

The Exmouth, part of the Arkells Brewery, is a newly refurbished establishment in the heart of Cheltenham. It is famed as a great eatery with a fantastic atmosphere inside and out. The client wanted a bespoke website in keeping with the recent refurbishment. It had to be visually striking yet uncluttered. Most importantly the client wanted to take control of the website content after a design had been built.

Cutpastecreate followed the brief and created a site that used our Content Management Software to make site management easy. We also included a Google Maps feature, custom JavaScript animated header and a fully validated contact form. A requirement of the site was that it needed to be updated regularly, with our flexible software this was easy to implement and now the design is finished The Exmouth are able to update their content without Cutpastecreate being involved.

Unity Films are a production company who specialise in commercial advertising. The client required Cutpastecreate to help take their programme of re-branding online with the development of a new website. The site was primarily to showcase Unity’s impressive portfolio as well as their services. The client also wanted their site to appear higher in search engine results. Cutpastecreate designed website that gave Unity a new online platform from which to attract new business and create awareness about the brand.

With the new site, Unity Films are able to update their portfolio frequently and easily. This is good for customers who see all their latest work on the site when they visit, plus it’s good for search engines, which give sites that update their content frequently higher rankings.

Cutpastecreate were approached by a hotel development group, Premier Circuit Hotels, who needed a website to represent the new hotel they were planning in Cheltenham. They needed a site that would aid marketing of the new development, creating a local awareness of the hotel and the brand behind it.

The Express Hotel was in construction. The client wanted a website to be ready for business when they were. Cutpastecreate set about the task of building an visually stimulating yet simple web presence. The client expressed a desire to be high in the search engines.

Therefore Cutpastecreate has created a flexible site to grow with the hotel with a maximum visibility on leading search engines from day one, namely Google. Our work with Express Hotel is ongoing and proves our ability to support the client on a wide range of issues, not just web design.
